No. 1 ranked chuckwagon driver Jason Glass, along with his outrider team of Chad Cosgrave and Dustin Gorst, claimed the Strathmore Stampede championship on Aug. 4.
“It was a great weekend for us. The horses were healthy and ran excellent and I have two great outriders in Chad Cosgrave and Dustin Gorst,” said Glass. “They did a great job.
“(The Stampede) was exciting here because MJ’s Water Hauling is here and they just started sponsoring me last year. It is my second year with them in Strathmore and it is extra special when you get a new company behind you.”
The success of Glass was attributed to the horses and wagons he rode.
“I did not change anything. I drove two different outfits off of four separate barrels,” said Glass. “The key is having healthy horses, they are feeling better than they have all summer.”
Glass added that to win these events you have to be penalty free and run fast.
On the weekend, the track had great conditions and the riders could not have been more satisfied.
“The track conditions were great this weekend … it seems to be improving each year,” said Glass. “We had really good weather and the crowd saw some really nice races.”
