The Wheatland Chiefs weren’t a very enthused team after suffering their first loss of the season on Nov. 23.
The local double-A midget team responded with three straight wins, including a 6-1 thumping of the Taber Golden Suns at the Strathmore Family Centre on Nov. 30.
“They’re playing good, tonight was a little more of a 60-minute effort. We played pretty good the whole game, we kept it simple getting the pucks deep, battling and driving wide against their defensemen,” said Chiefs assistant coach Shadoe Stoodley.
“We’ve been struggling as of late but the last two our power play has picked it up and that’s going to win a lot of hockey games when your power play is putting the puck in the net.”
Stoodley praised his goaltender’s strong play, as he was able to stop some breakaways early on.
“Nolan Kent played really well, but he really stood out tonight. He had three breakaways in the first and one in the third,” said Stoodley. “I think as a core everybody played pretty good.”
Alec Biletsky, Kyle Rosolowski, Jason Hobson, James Farmer, Kaleb Robinson and Chris Rebeyka scored in the win.
On the previous night in Olds, the Chiefs beat the Grizzlys 5-2.
Goals came from Jayse Wilson with two tallies while Farmer, Robinson and Biletsky added singles.
The Chiefs return to action this weekend when they host Lethbridge on Dec. 5 (7:30 p.m. in Hussar), before travelling to Red Deer on Dec. 7 (5:30 p.m.).

Warriors win
The Wheatland Warriors edged the Foothills Bisons 2-0 in their lone game this weekend on Nov. 29.
Tyler Skehar and Connor Bertamini scored in the win.
The local bantam double-A team will host the Medicine Hat Venom in Hussar on Dec. 12 (7:30 p.m.).

Brave offense in high gear
Meanwhile the Wheatland Braves won a pair of road games this weekend by dismantling Cochrane 13-1 and Sylvan Lake 9-2.
In Cochrane, it was Brayden Kapty, Max Schafer and Kyle Crnkovic scoring two apiece, while Anson McMaster, Zach Nicholls, Adam Kirkpatrick, Kage Yellowfly, Bryce Benfield, Mo Hakim and Tristan Zandee all added one each.
Against Sylvan Lake, Hakim scored a hat trick, Crnkovic had two, while Kirkpatrick, Zandee, McMaster and Ethan McKibbin supplied the offence.
The Braves will now host the Bow Valley Timberwolves on Dec. 5 (7:30 p.m.) at the Strathmore Family Centre before facing Okotoks on the road the following day at 6:30 p.m.
