Gleichen RCMP arrest suspected drug dealer

Following multiple calls for assistance in Siksika Nation on June 27, Gleichen RCMP arrested and charged Amelia Duckchief, 25, who was found in possession of a substantial amount of methamphetamine.
Duckchief was subsequently charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with her recognizance. She appeared in Siksika Provincial Court on June 28.
Meth, heroine and fentanyl have become a problem on Siksika Nation, which took a stand two months ago by banishing three suspected drug dealers – all three of which were non-members.
“Drugs are a problem everywhere, and Siksika is no exception,” said Sgt. Tyler Codling with the Gleichen RCMP.
“No one should be kidding themselves, drugs are a problem everywhere. (Siksika) council has taken an active role about doing something about drugs.”
Codling urges anyone with information on illegal activity – especially drugs – to reach out to local authorities confidentially.
Duckchief is being held in custody until her new court date on July 5.
