Zarowny had successful campaigns

Strathmore’s Tyson Zarowny learned a lot between playing with the local Reds baseball program and later playing for the Lethbridge-based Prairie Baseball Academy over the past two seasons.
The centre fielder admits it was an enjoyable experience with the academy but the calibre of baseball was an adjustment being at the diamond every day.
“The competitiveness is quite a lot higher, every game, everyone is going 100 per cent all the time,” he said.
“(Just) playing so often in the spring, like practicing every day, then playing four games with a big road trip in between is probably the biggest thing.”
He credits his three years previous with the Strathmore Reds to developing his all-around game.
“My (Reds) coach Zane Anderson played college ball, he helped us with that quite a bit because he knew what it was like and just learning how to play the game right,” said Zarowny.
There is one specific area of his game that he will focus on getting better at for next season.
“My hitting can always get better, if you just keep working on it, it’ll always get better,” said Zarowny.
His coaches felt that if he found some consistency in his game, he would be successful.
“Just to pretty much always be a gamer, like always doing whatever you can to help the team win,” he said.
“Always being aware and just making sure you get a good read on a ball because that could be the difference of catching or not.”
He has been talking to schools in Texas and New Mexico and is hoping to play at one of them in the near future.
