The Strathmore 2015 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games committee are looking to fill more spots for the ‘Easy Going’ golf tournament at the Strathmore Golf Club on May 30.
“We’d love to have 128 golfers and right now we have 85,” said Colleen Huber, the games manager. “It’s a very fun tournament, that’s why it’s called the Easy Going Open … you can be super skilled or if you’re just a beginner golfer, there will be lots of fun for you there too.”
The tournament format will have a fun look for all players.
“It’s just a scramble best ball tournament and people have the opportunity to purchase a passport, where they can go into a few different games on the golf course as well as buy some mulligans,” said Huber.
There will also be sponsored holes for various games as well.
“We have two insurance companies doing hole-in-one prizes on two different holes and we have some fun contests that will be a little bit different like fun driving contests,” Huber said. “Some of the other hole contests aren’t about people having the best skill, there’s stuff like, if your ball goes in the water, you get to put your name down for draws.
If you are a member at the golf course the fee is $110, while non-members pay $125, and that includes range balls, a cart, and a round of golf and steak dinner.
Following the golf, there will be a silent auction with some great items up for grabs.
“There’s a chance for someone to bid on a glider ride, there’s also things like party packs from Aussie Rules in Calgary,” she said. “We’ve got some great different golf courses that people can bid on, and Drumheller’s Passion Play is another one that we have.”
The tournament will have a 2 p.m. shotgun start.
