Take a selfie, win a prize

A few months ago Strathmore teen Jonathan Moore approached council with some of ideas and suggestions for council. One of those suggestions was creating a selfie contest where teens or community members could take a selfie photo and submit it to the town for a prize.
Thinking along those lines town administration has officially launched the Strathmore Selfie Contest.
“We just wanted to come up with something to incorporate that and keeping our town clean and we just asked that people follow the Town of Strathmore Instagram and then take a picture of themselves helping out in some way in the community, or contributing in the community,” said Jennifer Cuthbertson, administrative assistant for the town.
So how it works, head out and take a selfie of you helping keep the community clean, follow the Town of Strathmore on Instagram @townofstrathmore. Upload your selfie, tell people what you were doing, and use the hashtag #keepstrathmoreclean, that’s it.
Any selfie photos showing community pride will be entered into a draw for a prize, which will be determined at a later date.
“It was just an initiative for people to get involved in the community,” said Cuthbertson.
Ideas for a picture could be a photo of you picking up garbage, or doing something to clean up in a park or public place. The contest ends on Sept. 1, and in the meantime there will be plenty of chances to win.
