Pamela Campbell is the new face at the helm of the Strathmore and District Chamber of Commerce, and she is excited to get the ball rolling.
Campbell is a marketing consultant with Golden West Radio Station, and one of her coverage areas has been Strathmore.
Upon first arriving in Strathmore a few years ago, armed with the intent to meet people and start making connections, Campbell met Robert Breitwieser, vice-president of the Chamber, for lunch as the first step.
By the time lunch was over, he had invited her to join the Chamber as a member, which she accepted.
“It went from there to watching and listening and seeing what was happening, what the board was doing and what the Chamber was doing, and wasn’t doing. At that stage, I made a commitment because anything I choose to do it’s either I give all or I don’t do it,” said Campbell.
“As you get to know me I’m all about community strength, I want to see things grow, I want to see things get better whether it’s community, business, families, the whole ball of wax. I like to see things get bigger, better, awesome.
“The way I look at it is how can I help? What can I do to make this better? These are questions I ask myself, do I have enough experiences to help with this? Yes.”
Campbell has served as president in other organizations, and through her position as a marketing consultant she has helped businesses big and small find ways to meet their needs and grow. She is also working hand-in-hand with the executive director of the High River Chamber, who is a member of the Alberta Chamber, which is part of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Campbell said her connections will help Strathmore’s Chamber grow that much stronger and faster into the direction they want to go.
“The excitement I feel from it is fantastic, the board is excited which is even better and the direction it’s going is positively modern,” said Campbell.
“We’re going to make this fantastic and it won’t be just me, because I’m part of a team and that team all has its own strengths within it. So I am really proud to be president of the Chamber, I am even that much more proud to be part of a team that I know is going to move forward and succeed and help the businesses grow within the community.”
The board has come up with a detailed, and pinpointed directive that won’t be announced until the first week of December, and won’t begin until Jan. 1. Campbell said the directive is about meetings, supports, and networking. It also answers the question ‘what do I get out of being a member of the Chamber?’
