Nature Canada is celebrating 75 years this September and they are launching a photo contest as a way to honour the occasion.
The contest encourages all Canadians to get out there this summer, connect with nature, and take photos of their experiences.
“As Canadians get outdoors and start exploring, Nature Canada thinks people will inevitably start to connect with nature on a deeply personal level,” said Jodi Joy, Director of Development for Nature Canada. “We think this is the first step to ensuring the health and well-being of both nature and, frankly, of ourselves too.”
Until Aug. 31, amateur photographers and nature enthusiasts can enter their best and favourite nature photos for a chance to win. Prizes range from things like an unlimited national parks pass, Vancouver Aquarium tickets or bungee jumping.
The grand prize is a multi-day hike from Copper Cayuse Outfitters. Judges for the contest include Olympian Michael Tayler, photographer Michelle Valberg, and TV’s Survivorman Les Stroud.
Contest submissions can be made through Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, e-mail and regular mail. For more details about the contest go to http://naturecanada.ca/initiatives/photo-contest.
