The comic book store We’ve Got Issues, located at 134 2nd Street in Strathmore, is a small store and is far more than a regular comic book store. The owner, Dave Harvey, is a resident of Strathmore. He opened the store on April 12, 2014, and since then the shop and Facebook page have been buzzing with activity. Events for the store are constantly planned on the popular page.
Harvey built his store to create a fun and carefree environment for anyone who enjoys comics and games, or just needs something to do in Strathmore. Harvey personally enjoys comics and his current favorite is a comic called LOW. LOW is about the earth being alien-inhabited and the last of the human race getting to the surface of the earth.
My personal favorite is Deadpool, which I discovered at this store. It is about a funny superhero that, while fighting evil, tends to get himself into trouble but in the end somehow defeats the evil.
In addition to comics, We’ve Got Issues offers numerous items for purchase and even some great activities and events. The store sells a variety of games that Harvey says seem to be a big hit. Magic is a very popular game which the store hosts each Friday, starting at 6:30 p.m. Those in attendance leave with prizes after a night full of fun.
Available for purchase only at We’ve Got Issues are small custom tables that have pictures of your favorite comics on them. The store also offers their 3DTV to be booked for your family and friends. It is completely free to watch the movies on the screen, but there are a limited number of 3D glasses. Snacks are also available in the store for only a dollar per item.
Harvey enjoys receiving input about his store on the Facebook page. He also encourages new ideas, such as a game tournament or a movie marathon on a specific series of movies.
I have personally been in the store and enjoy seeing the various items. I’m sure if you have nothing to do one day that if you went into the store, there would be something that would spark your interest and you will be eager to come back for another visit.
