The Strathmore High School boys soccer team were off to zones this past weekend, June 6 and 7. Coach Kaitrin Mcdonnell said the boys played some of their best games of the season.
They played Cochrane in the quarterfinals. Cochrane managed to get the win, but SHS held them to a one-point game. The final game for the boys against Springbank was to determine who would place fifth and sixth in the zone. Mcdonnell said it was an eventful game.
“Our starting goalie who sustained a wrist injury in the previous game came out in the second half with a 3-1 trailing score- the team came back to win it 5-4 with Fanen Hungwa scoring all four goals, beautifully set up by all the supporting players around him,” said Mcdonnell.
“We were hungry for the win and the ball kept finding the back of the net.”
Strathmore beat Springbank with a final score of 5-4, placing the boys fifth in the zone.
