Over 200 people attended the Strathmore United Church 50th Anniversary Celebration of the opening and dedication of the current church building, on Sunday, Sept. 22.
Festivities commenced with a special afternoon church service, conducted by Rev. Pamela Scott, with presentations made by three of our former ministers: Rev. Brian Derksen, Rev. John Snyder and Rev. Henry Freisen.
Presentations were also made by Vern Roste and Winston & Kari Sproule, who occasionally fill in for Pamela when she’s away. A combined Strathmore United and Gleichen Choir provided musical selections, as did the United Church Chimes Choir.
Flowers were provided by the Eeles Family, the Radway Family, the Stanley Family and Hope Community Covenant Church.
Lynn Fair and her assistants created a display in The Narthex, which showed photos, programs, letters and the history of the church.
Following the service, 214 people (by ticket only) sat down to a roast beef supper, prepared and served by LaRue, Kathy and their helpers.
Many appreciative comments have been made regarding this wonderful day.
