TAYLOR, Teresa Ann

TAYLOR,Teresa Ann

Beloved Wife, Mother, Nana, and Friend,

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Terri Taylor, a woman whose warmth, generosity, and love touched everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.

Born Teresa Ann Chimuk to William and Ann Chimuk on the outskirts of Winnipeg MB, Terri grew up on a bustling family farm surrounded by a large and vibrant extended family. Rooted in the Ukrainian Orthodox faith, she became a true cultural ambassador – her life a living celebration of heritage, hospitality, and heart. From her years of Ukrainian Dance training to her legendary skill in the kitchen, Terri poured herself into every gathering, transforming meals and moments into cherished memories. Her Ukrainian Christmas and Easter tables were nothing short of extraordinary.

Terri met and married the love of her life Wayne Taylor, in Winnipeg – a partnership that would define her world. Together they embarked on a life of adventure, relocating from Manitoba to Alberta, settling first in Swan Hills, then Calgary, and finally putting down roots in the village of Standard. Wherever Terri landed, community followed.

For 27 years, Terri served her community as Canada Post Postmaster – a role that suited her perfectly, as she never passed up the chance for warm conversation. Whether at the post office, the store, or the arena, she always had time for people. Beyond her career, she gave generously of herself through numerous boards, committees, and organizations. She lent her beautiful singing voice to the Lutheran Church Choir and shared her culinary talents through the Standard Ladies Auxiliary – and made sure no one spent Christmas alone.

A devoted mother, Terri never missed a recital, concert, school play, or sporting event. She celebrated every achievement of those she loved with the same wholehearted enthusiasm that defined everything she did. Her hobbies – sewing, quilting, cooking, travelling, and dancing – were not just pastimes but expressions of who she was. Whenever the music played, Terri and Wayne could be found on the floor, two-stepping or polkaing without a moment’s hesitation.

After the profound loss of her soulmate Wayne in 2024 and following a lengthy and courageous battle with her health, Terri relocated to Calgary to be close to her children and grandchildren. It brought her great comfort to be close again to the city she loved for so many decades.

Terri is survived by her daughter Christine (Russell) Lilja and granddaughter Abigail; her son Tom (Kari) and grandson Logan; her brother John (Audrey) and nephew Jonathon (Zoe); her sister Pat (James) and niece Laura (Brett); brother-in-law Al (Betty); niece Lisa (Jeff), nephew Jamie (Dawn); and a beloved circle of great nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful Nana – present, proud and full of love.

She was preceded in death by husband and soulmate Wayne Taylor.

A celebration of Life and Faith will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Strathmore, at 2:00 p.m., presided over by Father Patrick of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor, Calgary.

To know Terri was to love her. Come and share your goodbyes.
