Linda Darlene Straub, known to family and friends as Linda, passed away in Calgary, Alberta, leaving behind a life marked by love, kindness, laughter, and devotion to the people and places she cherished most.
Born on January 26, 1948, in Olds, Alberta, Linda carried the values of hard work, family, and community throughout her life. She was a woman who met each season of life with grace and warmth, and she will be remembered for the gentle way she cared for others and the steady presence she brought to every room she entered.
Linda shared a lifetime of love with her husband, Clinton Straub. Together, they built a family and a life rooted in commitment, shared memories, and the comfort of being surrounded by those they loved. She was a proud mother to her daughter Denise Straub, and to her daughter Shauna Muenchrath and husband Rodney Muenchrath. She was a devoted grandmother to Charly Doyle and husband Andrew Doyle, and to Cooper Muenchrath and grand cat pumpkin. She also held close to her, sister Patricia Toone and family, her brother Jim Rankin and family, her sister-in-law Gale Straub, and brother-in-law Clifford Straub and family. Her family was the center of her world, and she found great joy in the bonds they shared.
Linda was a hardworking and valued part of the family business as Joint Owner and Bookkeeper for Rota Mach Specialties. She approached her work with dedication and responsibility, contributing her time and talents with quiet strength. She was also deeply connected to the family-owned alpaca farm, Windy Ridge Alpacas, where her care and involvement reflected the same love and attention she gave to all parts of her life. The farm was more than a place of work. It was a place of family, pride, and cherished memories.
In her younger years, Linda loved spending time at the Stoney Creek fishing with her parents. Those early days helped shape her appreciation for simple pleasures and peaceful moments. Throughout her life, she continued to enjoy camping, gardening, and visiting with friends and family. She especially loved spending time at the family cabin in Montana, where she could relax and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. She also treasured her time at the family farm, where she delighted in the birds, squirrels, and other wildlife that shared the land with her. These moments brought her joy and reflected her deep appreciation for the natural world.
Linda was loving, kind, and funny. She had a way of making others feel welcome and at ease, and her sense of humor added light to the lives of those around her. She was the kind of person whose presence could be felt in the warmth of a conversation, the comfort of a shared meal, or the laughter that followed a fond memory. Her family and friends will remember her for the love she gave so freely and for the many ways she made life brighter.
Those who knew Linda will remember her as a woman of strength and tenderness, someone who gave generously of herself and who valued the people in her life above all else. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved, the memories she created, and the example she set through a life lived with care, devotion, and heart.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As per her wishes there will be no funeral to follow only a private family celebration of life.
