Raising money for Langdon library

The Langdon Community Library is looking to support local literacy programs when they host the 2026 Langdon Walk & Run on June 7.
Registration is now open for the annual fundraiser, which supports library operations, programs and services that encourage literacy and community connection.
“This event is about more than just crossing a finish line – it’s about showing up for our library and for each other,” said Heather King, President of the Langdon Library Society. “Whether you participate, volunteer your time, or make a donation, every contribution helps strengthen the programs and spaces our community relies on.”
Participants can choose from three event distances, including a 10-kilometre run, a five-kilometre run or walk, and a family-friendly one-kilometre fun run.
Several new features are being added for the 2026 event, including team participation and fundraising opportunities. Friends, families, co-workers and community groups are encouraged to register together and help raise additional funds for the library. The event will also feature a ‘Book Characters’ costume theme, adding a creative and family-oriented atmosphere for participants.
Other additions this year also include limited-edition library tote bags for participants who register before the deadline, replacing the traditional event T-shirts.
Organizers are also seeking volunteers to help ensure the event runs safely and successfully.
“Not everyone can attend on event day, but there are still so many ways to be involved,” added King. “From volunteering behind the scenes to donating in support of participants, every action makes a difference.”
The Langdon Library Society encourages residents to register, volunteer, donate or form a fundraising team ahead of the June event.
