Mobile mammography service coming to Strathmore

A mobile mammography service will be in Strathmore later this month and into October, providing breast cancer screening for eligible individuals.

The Screen Test mobile mammography trailer will be at the Strathmore Stampede Grounds on the east side of the Remuda Building.

The service will be available Sept. 25-26, Oct. 1-3 and Oct. 5-6.

Screening is available at no cost for eligible individuals between the ages of 45 and 74 and appointments are required.

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and is used to help detect breast cancer at an early stage, when treatment may be more effective.

Screen Test operates mobile mammography clinics throughout Alberta to improve access to breast cancer screening in communities where mammography services may not be readily available.

Individuals between 45 and 74 can discuss their breast cancer risk with a healthcare provider to determine whether screening is appropriate. Screening is also available through participating radiology clinics and some hospitals.
