MCINENLY, Frank

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank McInenly, age 78, who passed away suddenly, surrounded by his family, at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, on September 17, 2026.

From a young age, Frank learned the value of hard work, determination, and independence. At just 13 years old, he began working for himself by selling a Grad Class fundraiser Auction.   His entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic continued throughout his life.

In 1967, Frank started McInenly Auctions, conducting his first Auction sale for the J.R. Goldthorpe Estate. This marked the beginning of a long and successful career in the auction business. In 1969, he opened FM Trailer World, shortly before meeting his future wife, Agnes.  Frank owned the Stavely Auction Market in 1975 -1980 & again in 1993 – 2005 Selling thousands of cattle in southern Alberta.  

Frank was a proud supporter of his community and could often be found selling local events, 4-H, and fundraising Auctions throughout Southern Alberta. He had a distinctive voice and a larger-than-life presence—when Frank walked into a room, people knew he was there.

Frank’s proudest moments came from watching his daughters and grandchildren compete in rodeo throughout the Western provinces and the United States. He was immensely proud of every accomplishment, big or small, and never missed an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen about his girls and grandkids. Frank and Agnes spent countless days sitting on the bleachers at small-town rodeos, cheering loudly from the sidelines and following their family from one arena to the next. He loved watching them compete, but even more than that, he loved being their biggest fan and sharing their accomplishments with anyone who would listen.

Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Agnes; his daughters, Stacey McInenly and Holly Kugler; and his grandchildren, Austin Emineth (Kirstyn), Tynell McInenly, Keilan & Bristie Kugler. He was a proud great-grandfather to Reece and June Emineth.

He is also survived by his sister, Jo Boulton (Brian); sisters-in-law, Margaret Ann Schmitke (Ken), Carol Lyall (Mike), and Barb Lyall; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Kay McInenly; his in-laws, Dick and Helen Lyall; and his brother-in-law, Eldon Lyall.

Shortly before Frank said “Sold” for the final time, he was peacefully surrounded by his family and close friends—Agnes and family, Bill and Dawn, Cody Lee, Ken and Margaret Ann, Brian and Jo, and Doug.

Frank leaves behind a lasting legacy of hard work, dedication to family and community, and countless memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Celebration of life to be held Thursday October 1^st, 2026 @ 1pm at the Cultural Recreation Center Vulcan Alberta – 504 4^th Ave South Vulcan, Alberta.

In keeping with Frank’s love of the auction business, we kindly ask that you come dressed casually, as though you were attending one of his auction sales.
