Hurry Hard brings laughs to Rosebud
By Mario Prusina Times Editor
People looking for a lighthearted escape this spring will find plenty to enjoy at Rosebud Theatre, where the fast-paced comedy Hurry Hard is set to take the stage from April 10 through May 23 at Rosebud Opera House.
The award-winning play by Canadian playwright Kristen Da Silva promises a mix of sharp humour, small-town charm, and heartfelt storytelling.
Set in a quirky local curling club facing demolition, the story centres on a divorced couple forced to confront their past when a last-minute crisis arises just before a major bonspiel. The situation escalates into a comedic showdown on the ice, complete with rival teams from Didsbury and Olds, adding an Alberta flavour to the production.
Directed by artistic director Craig Hall, the cast features Brent Gill as Terry, Nathan Schmidt as Bill, Sarah Irwin as Sandy, Hayley Rosenau as Darlene, and Matthew Mooney as Johnny. Behind the scenes, the creative team includes scenic designer Dale Marushy, costume designer Amy Castro, lighting designer Becky Halterman, and sound designer and composer Joy Robinson.
In addition to standard theatre tickets, guests can choose the dinner-and-show packages featuring cuisine from Chef Mo, as well as a more affordable “Friday Night Lite” option, something new this season, with themed lighter fare.
With its mix of witty banter, awkward reunions, and spirited competition, Hurry Hard offers a comedic take on love, second chances, and the chaos of small-town life.
Tickets are available now at www.RosebudTheatre.com or by calling the box office at 1-800-267-7553.
