Godler,Gertrude (Trudy)  (nee Kramer)

Our Nanny sadly passed away Friday October 2, 2026.

Nanny was born April 11, 1929, in Munich, Germany where she lived with much hardship through the Great Depression and the horrors of World War Two. She met her husband, Antoine Godler, while in Munich and they were married in October 1950.  Looking for a better life, Nanny and Antoine emigrated to Aumetz, France.  There they settled in, learning a new language and raising a young family.  Adventure called and once again in 1968 they relocated first to Surrey and then Langley onto a small farm.  Sadly, Nanny lost Antoine in 1976.  She stayed on the farm until adventure called again and she relocated to Strathmore to be close to her grandchildren.

Nanny lived a life of deep warmth, resilience, and a strong love for her family. We were blessed with her amazing German cooking and baking.  She made a special birthday cake for everyone. No one could match Nanny’s Black Forest Cake.

Nanny was fiercely independent and loved politics and hockey and would make sure that you knew it and agreed with her.

Nanny was predeceased by her husband Antoine and survived by her children, Vic (Debbie), Jack (Amy), Chris (Dale), grandchildren, Michelle, Sean(Beth) and Alexander (Karen) and great-grandchildren Kingston and Oliver.

As per Nanny’s request there will be no service
