Arts on 817 announces Season 9 concert series

Arts on 817 is preparing to launch its ninth concert season, with four performances scheduled in Strathmore between October and May.
The 2026-27 concert series will feature brass, fiddle, classical strings and choral music, offering audiences a variety of musical styles throughout the season.
The season opens Saturday, Oct. 24, with Foothills Brass & Friends: Brass in Pop Music of the ’60s, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Strathmore United Church.
The concert will celebrate the popular music of the 1960s, featuring music associated with Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass, as well as hits from Al Hirt, Bert Kaempfert, Louis Armstrong, Chicago, The Beatles and others. Foothills Brass will be joined by piano, bass and percussion for the performance.
The series continues with the Calgary Fiddlers’ Fiddle Fantasia, a family-friendly holiday concert featuring Christmas classics alongside traditional fiddle tunes on Dec. 5.
The Calgary Fiddlers are an award-winning group of young musicians known for their energetic performances, combining toe-tapping fiddle music with the spirit of the holiday season.
On Saturday, Feb. 6, Arts on 817 will introduce a new experience with its debut Candlelight Concert.
The performance will feature WILDFLOWER, a classical string quartet that includes Strathmore’s own Megan Konschuh. The quartet will perform a wide range of popular music in a multi-sensory setting illuminated by the gentle glow of LED candlelight.
Organizers say the Candlelight Concert will be a first for Strathmore and is being presented just ahead of Valentine’s Day.
The season concludes Saturday, May 1, with Luminous Voices & Rosebud Choirs, bringing together Calgary’s professional choir Luminous Voices, conducted by Tim Shantz, and the Rosebud Choir, conducted by Bill Hamm.
The two choirs will collaborate on a program of choral music spanning cultures, traditions and time, offering audiences an opportunity to hear the two ensembles perform together.
Arts on 817 organizers are inviting residents to make the concert series part of their 2026-27 entertainment plans, with the four performances providing opportunities to experience a range of musical traditions and performers without leaving Strathmore.
Tickets for the 2026-27 season remain at the same prices as last season.
