Garriott, Alexandra (Allie) Elizabeth

Alexandra (Allie) Elizabeth Garriott of Strathmore, passed away of natural causes on February 24, 2024, at the age of 98 years. Allie will be lovingly remembered by her son Marshall (Jeanette) Garriott of Cold Lake, Kelly McKale of Calgary, Kevin (Carrie) Rest of Cold Lake; her daughter Marilyn (Brent) Ornburn of Strathmore, Aaron (Tracy) Ornburn of Strathmore; her daughter Janet Snider of High River, Brett Snider of Blackie; her son Sandy Garriott (Frances) of Rockyford, Julie (Spencer) Reagan of Standard, Lisa Garriott of Rockyford,  Anthony (Tiffany) Garriott of Grand Prairie and of course by her many great and great- great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents William and Mabel Fraser of Port Alberni, her husband of 56 years Clifford (Buster) Garriott, her brother Bill Fraser, her grandson Kyle Garriott, and her son-in-law Jim (Janet) Snider.

Allie was born in Calgary, Alberta but moved with her family to Port Alberni at a young age. She graduated from high school in Port Alberni and went on to work in a bank as a head ledger keeper. She met Buster while vacationing at her uncle’s dairy farm near Eagle Lake and was persuaded to become a farmer. This was a role that she relished- driving combines, looking after hogs, sheep and much to Buster’s chagrin, goats and of course, caring for her dogs. She was also a very active member of the United Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, CGIT leader and was an original member of the thrift sale committee. Allie was a phenomenal baker- who will ever forget those great pies, buns and of course, Grandma Allie’s cookies? She was a fantastic mother who will be greatly missed by us all. A special thank you to the staff at the Strathmore hospital for the wonderful care that mom received.

A private funeral service will be held at the Wheatland Funeral Chapel in Strathmore, with an interment at the Burnsland Cemetery, Calgary, where she will be reunited with Buster.
