Beaton, Darryl John

Beaton,Darryl John

It is with a heavy heart and much sadness that we announce the passing of Darryl John Beaton, Oct 23, 1950 – Jan 20, 2024.

Darryl passed away in Calgary on Jan 20th 2024, surrounded by loving family at the age of seventy three. Darryl will be dearly missed by his wife of almost forty years, Wendy of Strathmore, children Nadine (Todd) of Onoway, Devin (Christine) of Edmonton as well as grandchildren Chance, Teyler and Bohdi of Edmonton. Darryl will also be missed by his brothers Rob Beaton of Nanton, Cody Beaton and family of Strathmore and Jackie Beaton of Red Deer, sister Roxanne Beaton and family of Red Deer, Nephew Travis (Kelsey) Beaton and family of Mayerthorpe and niece Bambi (JP) and family of Calgary.

Darryl was born in Eastend Sask. on Oct 23, 1950 to John (Jack) and Josephine Beaton. Moving to Rush Lake Sask. and Medicine Hat AB for parts of his childhood Darryl settled in Calgary AB around the age of 13. Graduating high school but not settling on a career, he performed odd jobs until around 1975 when he went to SAIT to become a Welder and moved to Cochrane AB. Operating out of his beloved 1977 GMC Sierra rig welder, Darryl traveled the Cochrane area doing odd welding jobs. When he wasn’t working, he rode saddle bronc in the rodeo circuit and cared for his horses. It was friends from the rodeo that introduced him to Wendy, and the two were married in Strathmore on Dec 27, 1985. Darryl enjoyed time spent with all his horses, whether just caring for them, riding or going to Cutting competition.  Later in life he became a pipeline inspector, moving himself and his beloved wife back to Strathmore, where they both eventually retired.

Darryl had a charm about him that will be unforgettable, his sense of humor was unmatched. His wit, wise cracks and famous one-liners will ring in the minds of his friends and family for the rest of their lives.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Strathmore Legion, 230 2nd Ave, at 2 pm on Saturday March 2, 2024. We invite you to come and participate in this celebration by “Swapping lies and telling stories to the neighbors” as he would say.
