Sunday collision leaves two dead, two injured

A collision in the early hours of Oct. 18 has left two Wheatland County residents dead and another two people seriously injured.

At 4:13 a.m. on Oct. 18, Strathmore RCMP, Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to a collision between a Ford Expedition and Porsche SUV on Highway 1, east of Spruce Drive.

The 59-year-old female driver of the Expedition was transported to hospital where she was declared dead. A 33-year-old male passenger of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene.

Another adult male occupant of the Expedition was transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. All three occupants of the vehicle were from the Wheatland County area.

The adult male driver of the Porsche SUV was transported to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

The names of the victims are not being released.

Investigation by Strathmore RCMP and a RCMP collision analyst is ongoing. Traffic was diverted for a hours while emergency personnel responded to the scene.
