Gleichen RCMP arrest drug traffickers on Siksika Nation

Gleichen RCMP executed a search warrant at a suspected drug house on the Siksika Nation on Sept. 11. Arresting residents, investigation revealed that premise occupants were trafficking in nerve pain medication and selling it to users on the Siksika Reserve.
Charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Crystal Bullchief (age 44), Melfort Threesuns (age 50) and Charlene Raweater (age 19) were released on their own recognizance and are scheduled to appear in Siksika Provincial Court on Sept. 20.

Gleichen RCMP seek the public’s assistance
Gleichen RCMP were dispatched to a Lynx Energy Gas Plan located north of Gleichen on Sept. 13. Police learned that the gas plant had been broken into on both Sept. 11 and 12, with the suspects stealing batteries and cables.
Surveillance video at the gas plant captures one of the suspects on camera. She can be described as a caucasian female in her 20s, with reddish brown hair, & wearing a “Mac Tools” sweatshirt.

Strathmore RCMP investigate fatal pedestrian collision

On Sept. 8, Strathmore RCMP responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Highway 817, approximately two kilometres south of Strathmore.
At 2:18 a.m., the RCMP were dispatched and responded with emergency services. A 61-year-old male from the Siksika Nation was declared deceased on scene.
Investigation indicates that a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 817 struck the pedestrian who was in the driving lane. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene to cooperate with the RCMP.
Traffic was diverted while the investigation was conducted by a collision analyst. The investigation continues and no further information is available.

Bait vehicles are everywhere
In an effort to combat property crimes, the Cochrane RCMP have been deploying bait vehicles in and around the Cochrane area.
On Sept. 3, 2018 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Cochrane RCMP was notified that one of the RCMP GPS traceable bait units had been stolen. The Cochrane RCMP followed the unit to a rural location in Rocky View County near Strathmore. One male was arrested a short time later in Strathmore and released to appear in Strathmore Court on Oct. 2, 2018.
“The bait unit was left in a few different locations in and around Cochrane, where we know vehicles are repeatedly stolen from,” said Cst. Kary Moore with the Cochrane RCMP detachment.
