Fatal collision on Highway 22X

Strathmore RCMP responded to a three-vehicle collision last week that claimed the life of one man.
The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on April 25 after a westbound travelling pick up truck on Highway 22X collided head on with a semi tractor-trailer unit that was travelling east. Shortly after the vehicles collided, a second westbound travelling semi struck the first two vehicles at Highway 22X and Range Road 280.
While the drivers of both semis were not seriously harmed in the accident, the driver and lone occupant of the truck, a 45-year-old man from Rocky View County, who was identified as Mark Duffin, was deceased at the scene. Duffin had been an employee of Strathmore Ford for the past six months.
“We miss him and we’re so sorry for his family,” said Mike Jones, sales manager for Strathmore Ford.
“He was a super gentle, caring guy and he was liked by his customers. He was very outgoing and easy to get along with. He was definitely a valued employee and will be missed.
A RCMP collision analyst attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
