Greater turnouts, unparalleled events, and a wider rage of entertainment speak volumes to the ongoing success of the Strathmore Stampede. Yet recently, the Strathmore and District Agricultural Society was recognized for their behind-the-scenes efforts and talent, when they were awarded with two first-place prizes at the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies (AAAS) 2016 Marketing Competition.
During the annual convention in Edmonton, AAAS president Doug Kryzanowksi presented the local society with the awards for the ‘posters for events with attendance over 5000 guests,’ and for the ‘Delegates Choice’ categories, as a result of the Stampede and Heritage Days 2016 poster.
“We place a great deal of emphasis on our marketing efforts,” said Herb McLane, general manager of the Strathmore and District Agricultural Society in a statement. “Not only does the poster promote the stampede and Heritage Days, it represents our brand. In that way it forms a part of the identity of the society.”
McLane also credited Events Coordinator Meagan Dennett for her efforts in producing such results. The 2016 promotional poster was a collaboration between the society’s staff and Bret Kenworthy, a contributor to the marketing program of the society. His supplied the photographic images and provided the artwork for the project.
“We are extremely honoured by this recognition,” said Dennis McNeill, president of the Strathmore and District Agricultural Society who attended the conference. “It is a testimony not only to our marketing efforts, but it is also a reflection of the commitment of our volunteers and staff who are dedicated to making our events, and our society, a success.”
According to McLane, the 2016 poster is the second of a series promoting the Strathmore Stampede and Heritage Days. The design of the 2017 poster is currently underway, will continue with the tradition and be a part of the series, and will officially be unveiled at the sponsor reception in July.
The Strathmore Stampede and Heritage Days will run from July 29 until Aug. 1, 2016.
