Wheatland County is implementing Water Efficiency Rebate Program to help county residents conserve water.
The county is offering rebates to those residents who consider buying low-flow fixtures such as toilets and showerheads. The use of low-flow technology can help reduce water usage, thereby lowering the residents’ environmental footprint.
“I think in today’s environment the conservation of water and the management of waste water and its impact on the environment as well as our good supply of quality water is always something we got to recognize the importance of,” said Jim Laslo, General Manager of Agriculture for Wheatland County. “We’re in the Palliser Triangle and our goal in Wheatland County is to recognize that water conservation is important. We want to be proactive and give benefits to those folks who feel they can reduce consumption of water, which in essence reduces the disposal of waste water.”
The rebate given back will be $60 per high efficiency fixture and a maximum of $180 per Wheatland County household.
How the process will work is:
• Take a photo of the old fixture in place (for each new fixture)
• Purchase and install a new certified fixture.
• Take a photo of the new fixture.
• Submit your completed applications with photos, receipt to Wheatland County.
• A rebate will be added to your next utility bill.
