Strathmore bull rider Scott Schiffner made his 15th straight appearance at Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) in Edmonton last weekend, competing as one of the 12 riders for the top prize, but unfortunately his rides were done earlier than anticipated.
Schiffner won the second round, but was injured in the later rounds. He thought this year’s event was not the best he has ever performed in.
“It was not my best finals for sure,” said Schiffner.
“I actually got injured in the fifth round and couldn’t compete in the sixth round, which is the first time that’s happened to me where I haven’t been able to compete on my bulls there. It’s always unfortunate because you’re out of the opportunity to win money or it takes you out of the championship round.”
The stock he rode was excellent again this year because organizers select the best 42 bulls in Canada to saddle up on.
“Every year it becomes more relaxed up there,” said Schiffner.
“That being said every year we’re there to win, 11 other guys and me are there to win every time.”
With winning a round, combined with his season totals, Schiffner has accumulated a total of $33,720.24.
He will wrap up the season at Pro Bull Riding Finals in Saskatoon this weekend.
