Times Associate Editor

Many of you might be surprised to see my name printed in the Strathmore Times. Having covered events, breaking news, and town and county council for the other paper over the past year, I am thrilled to join the team at the Strathmore Times.
A year ago, I moved to Strathmore and was quickly captivated by the town, its residents, and the push to grow as a community. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know hard-working individuals and organizations, stood in the infield to capture the action of running with the bulls, listened to town council tackle local issues, reported on events such as Canada Day, and reported on everything in-between. Having grown up in Germany, and then in a small town in British Columbia, I grew rather fond of this town. I have never experienced such willingness by the community to pitch in and help each other out within a small town. When the opportunity arose, I was happy to embark upon the next adventure as the associate editor with the Times.
Strathmore is not the first small town I have reported on. While a student at Mount Royal University, I contributed to the Calgary Journal and the Reflector. I was a reporter for the Salmon Arm Observer and Eagle Valley News, worked as a radio and online reporter in current affairs and news for Germany’s international broadcaster Deutsche Welle, and worked as a freelancer in London, England. I received my Bachelor in Communications with a major in Journalism and was fortunate to have received training by journalists from the New York Times, the Economist, and the BBC in a foreign correspondence training course in Prague.
Over the last year, I have learned that there is never a dull moment in Strathmore. I can’t think of anything more fulfilling than journalism, and will continue to work hard to portray your community in print.
