Catherine Walsh, program coordinator for Strathmore FCSS, presented council with a list of the United Way 2015 grant funding recipients. Every year Strathmore is granted funds based on the town’s population. This year a total of $52,700 will be distributed between the groups and organizations, which include: the Friends of Brentwood School Society; the Strathmore Family Outdoor Rink committee; Strathmore Frozen Meals on Wheels; Accredited Supports to the community- Healthy Families; Growing Families Society- Life Skills program; Hope Bridges Society for Creative and Continued Learning; Hope Community Covenant Church- School Fuel; Strathmore Municipal Library; Youth Club of Strathmore; Bow Valley College; Community Crisis Society; Project H.O.P.E; and the Strathmore Wheatland Addictions Team.

Roles and responsibilities
Councillor Brad Walls told council he would like to have a legal team come in and refresh everyone on their roles and responsibilities on council.
“Unknowingly we sometimes cross that imaginary line, I am guilty of it myself. This is just a good reset … we’re midway now, it probably wouldn’t hurt to refresh,” said Walls.
Councillor Bob Sobol suggested that council be specific on what areas they would like to focus on, and stated that the answers to some of the questions could be found in one of the many policies the town is governed by.
Councillor Denise Peterson suggested that online instruction, prepared by lawyers, in regards to code and conduct by the Municipal Government Act should also be considered as a possibility to re-outlining some of those roles.
Walls said the reason he would like it to be in person is so that everyone is there and hearing the same information and then can talk about it afterwards if they are unclear on parts of it. A motion was made and passed to have administration prepare a report outlining the costs of bringing in a lawyer to discuss roles and responsibilities.

Saying thanks
In December Savanah Sandri made a donation request to council to help fund her trip to compete in show jumping in California. On April 1 Sandri was back in the council chambers to thank council again for their support, tell them how she had done, and present them with framed mementos of her, her horse Chili and one of her ribbons.
“When I was down there I won five first place ribbons and 20 clear round ribbons, clear round means I didn’t knock down any poles so I’m really proud of that,” said Sandri.
Later this year the teen will compete in one of the Spruce Meadows Classics.
