The Strathmore 2015 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games committee has officially unveiled their games poster on Feb. 9. Bret Kenworthy, who is best known in town for his Strathmore Stampede posters, volunteered his time to help create the poster.
Colleen Huber, games manager, said in a promotions meeting the committee was trying to figure out how to get the poster done and decided on a design when Shauna Kenworthy offered to check with her son to see his availability. The younger Kenworthy said the poster was created through a collaboration with his mom.
“She told me about the idea and she helped me design the poster, it was kind of her inspiration, she had all the ideas and I put it together,” said Bret.
“We took pictures that would replicate an Alberta landscape and because ‘it’s our time to shine’ is the slogan, so my mom really wanted to do something with sunrays.”
This year marks 35 years for the 55 Plus Summer Games. This year’s Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games will be held in Strathmore July 16-19.
