For almost one year, Masala Hub has been cooking up the finest East Indian cuisine right here in downtown Strathmore. Two brothers, Mohammad Farhan and Mohammad Kamran, have pledged to provide fresh, healthy, and genuine Indian dishes to those who have already been won over by the flavourful delicacies of India or to those who are simply feeling adventurous.
All of the food on the menu is prepared with nutritious ingredients and cooked in a clay oven. When asked about the inspiration behind the name ‘Masala Hub,’ Farhan describes it as a representation of the many spices that they incorporate in each handmade dish (masala refers to spices and good food).
Farhan believes in running his business like a family and being involved within the community; he is overwhelmingly happy to support any person who walks in through the door. The brothers currently employ five people – two chefs and three waiters. The wait for your meal can be slightly longer than usual, but is definitely worth it. My family and some friends went for dinner at Masala Hub one night and were exceptionally pleased with our evening. I had heard raving reviews about the restaurant, but had never really enjoyed Indian food. After dining at Masala Hub, though, I have an entirely different view on this type of food and am excited to go back and try other menu items. These are the dishes that I like the most: Chicken Tikka, Butter Chicken, and Chicken Jafrezi (the freshly made naan bread is also extremely good!).
The management of Masala Hub are extremely welcoming to questions, concerns, or how to make their restaurant the very best. Farhan said that people are sometimes too scared to try Indian cuisine; they may be worried that it will be too spicy or are nervous to try something different. Masala Hub is open to accommodating their dishes to fit everyone’s individual needs; whether you are celiac, vegetarian, or have other health concerns, the staff are dedicated to providing all of their customers with outstanding service and a memorable lunch or evening meal.
For January, they are offering free delivery for all take-out orders, and will soon be introducing an “owner’s special” featured in the menu. They are also planning to introduce Sunday as buffet day, in which a reasonably priced array of Indian delicacies will be at your fingertips to indulge in for lunch and supper.
Masala Hub is located at 134-2nd Street and can be contacted at 403-983-1114. They are open daily from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. A lunch special is available from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Receive a taste of authentic East Indian food tonight, at Masala Hub!
