The Carseland Kids Wellness Coalition has professional funnyman Jebb Fink coming into the community on Feb. 21 for a comedy night.
“He has got to be one of the funniest comedians I have ever seen,” said Dahrlyne Knaus, a fundraising member of the coalition.
Serena Shane, a comedian from Calgary, will be the opening act for the show, which is the first fundraiser for the new outdoor rink.
The Carseland Kids Wellness Coalition was created in 2008 to fundraise money to redo the school playground. In four months they were able to raise over $100,000.
“We kept the coalition open, so we support other non-profit organizations in Carseland. Right now we’re fundraising to do an outdoor rink like they’ve done in Cheadle,” said Knaus.
The coalition is partnering with the Carseland Lions and the Ag Society and may qualify for a matching grant. The hope is to raise a total of $60,000, which would include the grant money.
The rink will be NHL-sized. It will be a covered outdoor rink that will be accessible to the children in Carseland and surrounding areas to use. In the winter it will be available for skating and hockey, and in the summer the plan is to make it open to summer activities like basketball, summer hockey, rollerblading and more.
Tickets are selling for $30. There will be a silent auction and raffle items, and snacks will also be provided.
The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased by contacting Bobbi Lausen at 403-934-4568 or Dahrlyne Knaus at 403-901-7119.
