Carseland Lions Club enjoyed successful 2014

The Carseland Lions Club brings warm wishes to our community for 2015. Our motto is “We Serve.”
We have been providing aid and service to others when the need arises since 1955.
Here is a snapshot of what we have accomplished in 2014:
• We partnered with other local service clubs to form a centennial committee, in order to celebrate Carseland’s 100 years.
• We opened a centennial account, applied for and received Wheatland County Community Enhancement grant funding for centennial celebrations and portable bleachers. We would like to acknowledge Wheatland County and members of the community enhancement regional board for their commitment to making our community a wonderful place to live.
• We assisted the Carseland and District Community Association and Agricultural Association with improvements to plumbing in the community hall kitchen, door prizes, as well as providing funds for them to lease a meeting room.
• We have given back to worthy causes such as the Lions Quest (youth leadership), Lions guide dog foundation and their eye bank projects.
• We have assisted our youth, by helping Busy Bee Preschool.
• We assist local youth who attend Crowther Memorial Junior High School when they travel to eastern Canada.
• Other benefactors in Carseland are the youth group, and 1st Carseland Baden Powell scout group as well as project Hope.
One of the main goals of the Carseland Lions Club is to enhance infrastructure projects that the community can physically utilize. However, we do assist some individual requests on a case-by-case basis.
For example, this summer, at the Aggie Days Barbeque, money received was redistributed to local families, to provide relief to those who were affected by personal tragedy or health issues.
We concluded the year with donations to The Sheldon Kennedy foundation, CNIB White Cane program, Canadian Cancer Society and the Strathmore and District Christmas Hamper Society.
Overall, your generosity has helped us assist the community, utilizing over $19,000 in donations in 2014.
We, the Carseland Lions Club, would like to take this time to express our gratitude and appreciation to everyone in the community who helped to make all of the above possible and we look forward to continuing to serve our community in 2015.
