Bringing back the Real Deal

The Real Deal Band, an eight-piece band out of Calgary, will be back in Strathmore on Feb. 14. The band has been a returning favourite for three years, always putting on an energetic show that never gets old.
“The people treat us so well we are honoured to be asked back. They also appreciate live music, which is always encouraging,” said John Lacey, spokesperson for the band, and a founding member of the band.
Lacey said the band has been gravitating a bit more to blues material, but otherwise there have been no significant changes in what they do, and how they play it since the last show.
One thing new on the Musical Arts Society’s side of things is anyone who buys tickets before Jan. 15 will be entered into an early bird prize.
“It’s about a $300 package for those that buy early,” said Linda Storkson, Strathmore Musical Arts Society president.
“It is a night at the Rocking R Ranch, two bottles of wine and also dinner for two at The Station.”
Tickets are available at Pro Water, Marlin Travel and Assist Business Centre. They’re $50 each and include a roast beef dinner at the Travelodge. The cash bar opens at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m.
At each show the Musical Arts Society likes to bring in young, local talent to showcase themselves and to open the show for the main act. On Feb. 14 Lilli Furfaro will once again be that musician.
