NHL and Calgary Flames alumni will be coming to Strathmore for a charity hockey game on March 15. The game is being presented by the Strathmore 2015 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games committee and is just one of the many fundraisers the committee is doing leading up to the games in July.
There’s room for three players on the alumni team, and one coach position which is being auctioned off. Currently the bids are sitting at $250 for the guest coach position, and between $250-$260 for a player’s position. Bids can be made by going to strathmorehockeygame.com, and there are also auction boxes at some local businesses within town.
Each week leading up to the game, names are being released for the alumni team. So far officially confirmed are Dana Murzyn, Dennis Polonich and Neal Coulter for the players. Archie ‘Big Daddy’ Henderson has been announced as one of the coaches. Brief bios on the players can be found on the website.
“It’s kind of exciting, we haven’t had something like this in Strathmore for a long time. We’re having fun organizing it,” said Games Manager Colleen Huber.
Following the March 15 hockey game there will be a meet and greet at the Strathmore Civic Centre. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and alumni will arrive between 7-7:30 p.m. Tickets for the hockey game itself are $15 per adult, $10 for children and $40 for a family pack, which is two adult and two children tickets.
Meet and greet tickets will be sold separately for $10 a ticket.
