Many churches throughout the area held or are going to be holding VBS/VBC [Vacation Bible School/Camp] in the summer months. Lord of All Lutheran and Strathmore United churches joined forces in the middle of July to put on their camp called Wild Wonders. Kids and adults came for a 6:30 p.m. program of crafts, songs and stories. The adults participated in an adult study led by Doug Thurn. Every night they closed with a campfire in the parking lot with singing and snacks.
Strathmore’s Full Gospel Church ran their program during the last week of July with Wacky Animals as their theme. They had over 57 kids in attendance for the week-long program.
Individuals in the community of Standard have been holding programs at the local park along the same idea as VBS to give kids in the community an opportunity to come out and be together for Kids ‘Program in the Park!’ every Tuesday this summer, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Songs, games, Bible stories, and lots of fun activities.
The nice thing about such camps is that families don’t need to belong to the churches in order to participate; they are free programming for kids and families to learn Bible stories in a fun environment.
