Missed chances stump Bisons

The UFA Bisons were swept in their northern swing on Nov. 15 in Lloydminster (5-2) and Nov. 16 in Sherwood Park 6-1.
Head coach Dan MacDonald said the boys worked really hard but just did not capitalize on their chances.
“We just couldn’t get enough goals, it’s not like we didn’t generate chances – we had lots of chances. It’s just we missed open nets and you know chances that are nice easy shots, we flopped and it’s unfortunate.” said MacDonald. “We worked really hard and outplayed both teams in the games we played. I don’t think it was even close (Sunday versus Sherwood Park). I liked how we progressed, what we did on the ice was very good, every player played well … it’s hard to explain.”
“We dictated the play and deserve to win, yet we didn’t. Sometimes it’s one of those weekends on the road where it didn’t go the way you’d like it to because I thought we could’ve won both of those games.”
In the first game in Lloydminster, the Bobcats were able to take advantage of the Bisons slow start.
“Yeah we were flat coming out and I think that had to do with being on the bus a long time. It took us a period, once we got rolling we were good, but not good enough to win the game,” said MacDonald.
Bisons goal scorers in Lloydminster were Kyle Gordon and Jordan McConnell.
“(On Sunday) we just had some little breakdowns. They had a couple 5-on-3’s that helped them, they scored on those chances.”
Zachary Cox scored the lone goal in Sherwood Park.
MacDonald also added that this was a good weekend for the team to develop in certain situations, as they were able to move the puck and use the boards effectively.
The Bisons are looking to turn things around with a pair of road games. The herd was in Calgary on Nov. 19 to face the South Division’s first place Calgary Buffaloes (result unavailable as of press time). The team will then travel to face the Calgary Royals on Nov. 22 (7:30 p.m.).
