Mardi Gras celebration

Still not sure what to do on New Years Eve? The Youth Club of Strathmore is hosting their second annual New Year’s Eve Gala, and the theme this year is Mardi Gras.
“People should attend because last year’s Gala was so much fun. It was a great meal and dance, and a chance to mingle with friends and neighbours,” said Youth Club board member Pat Fule.
“Other than bars and house parties, there was really nothing in town for adults to attend and ring in the New Year. This is a chance to get a bit dressed up, have a nice meal, dance if you want, have a chance to win prizes, cash, or bid on auction items.”
A few years ago there was a public outcry about the lack of youth programming and facilities in town, and that was one reason why the Youth Club was formed. The club also provides affordable and educational programs for the kids, and would now like to buy a bus or shuttle that can take the kids to and from programs and events. Proceeds from the gala will bring the club that much closer to meeting their goal.
The gala will be held at the Strathmore Civic Centre, and tickets are $75 per person, or $600 for a reserved table of eight. The evening will include a live band, catered dinner, silent auction items, 50/50 tickets, a photo booth, late night snacks and party favours. Best of all it’s close to home.
