The Crowther Memorial Junior High School Cougars volleyball teams displayed strong battle levels during both their home tournaments played on Nov. 1.
Girls head coach Chris Iversen was impressed with how his teams improved defensive play on the court.
“The girls played some amazing defense today. They made some key blocks, played their positions well, covering the court, and made some spectacular scrambling saves,” said Iversen.
Although, he did admit the girls need some more consistency on the court.
“I think with any sport, there is always room for improvement. The biggest challenge for our team is staying consistent,” said Iversen.
Iversen wanted his team to stay positive through every set and keep the motivation during the matches.
“I wanted go see the players energy level up right to the end of every set, and celebrating every success,” said Iversen. “Overall, I think it went really smoothly, lots of great games played by all the teams. In the girls tournament, most playoff games were very close, even in the finals.”
Brad Huntley’s team saw tremendous success as his boys won the tournament.
“The boys team went undefeated all day without losing a single game. We played Three Hills in the final, we won the match in two straight sets,” said Huntley.
“It was a rematch from Three Hills’ home tournament, where we beat them in that final to win our first tournament of the year.”
The boys team will be hosting zones this upcoming weekend on Nov. 8.
