Another Strathmore Stampede has come and gone, leaving behind memories and a tired but happy crew of people who helped organize the events.
“I think it was actually one of our better years and that is because of the weather, our director, our staff, our volunteers, our sponsors and donors and spectators, I think it was one of our best years and I think we owe it to that group for making it such a successful year,” said Brad Walls, Acting President for the Strathmore and District Agricultural Society about the weekend.
“I think it was great. I think it was actually a huge success, we’re quite happy with the way everything played out,” said Tracey Foster, general manager for the Ag Society.
A last-minute cancellation forced the Ag Society and the board to scramble to find something to fill the space on the grounds and provide options for the people other than watching the rodeo and the chuckwagons, and thus Cobb’s Carnival of Fun was added.
“Our team came through and put together I think a very good package in a very short time. I know that the team has got some other ideas in making that an even bigger and better event. I know the group that was involved has got some really cool ideas and next year I think it’s going to be 500 times better,” said Walls.
Foster also agreed that things came together nicely, and said the Ag Society will be exploring the possibility of bringing Cobb’s back again next year.
For now organizers are taking a much-needed moment to breathe before launching into the planning of the 2015 Strathmore Stampede.
“We’ve got some ideas on what worked well and what didn’t, so we’ll definitely be looking at what we can do better and such for next year,” said Foster.
