The 29th annual Gleichen Fall Fair is coming up this weekend on Aug. 24 at the Gleichen Sportsplex. The festivities begin at 8 a.m. for a pancake breakfast put on by the Lions Club and continue throughout the day, ending at 4:30 p.m., just before the rodeo. The Fall Fair will be host to an array of competitions including an apple pie bake-off, a chili cook-off and a judged bench show featuring crafts and baked goods.

There will also be a show and shine with classic cars on display, and a demonstration by the local fire department. There will be lots of activities for kids as well, including face painting, jump houses and kids carnival activities. Proceeds from this year’s Fall Fair will be going to help the STARS air ambulance service.
“It looks like it’s shaping up and we’re hoping to have another successful year,” said Brenda Tower, a main organizer of this event. “Come one, come all and enjoy.”
If you’re interested in joining the apple pie contest, chili contest or the show and shine, it’s not too late. You can call Brenda Tower at 403-934-2562. Embrace the last weeks of summer with some fair fun and rodeo this weekend at Gleichen’s Fall Fair.
