Prepare to get your funny bone tickled and support Strathmore Youth Club. On June 14, at the Travelodge, entertainment from Yuk Yuk’s finest will be displaying their comic genius.
“We hope that this will be a really successful fundraiser. We really want to do well on this,” said spokesman Pat Fule.
Ian Wallace is one of the two comics headlining the event. Reviews have called him one of Western Canada’s fastest rising comics. Described as nerdy, ironic and pop-culture obsessed, Wallace delivers comedy that is smart and punch line-driven, with an up-to-the-moment flavour and classic structure that make him accessible to audiences of all ages.
During his first performance year, he was a Calgary finalist in the Battle of Alberta Comedy Competition 2010 and the Great Canadian Laugh-Off 2011.
Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m. by bellying up to the cash bar, and the show starts at 8 p.m.
“By showing the ticket you get 10 per cent off food at the Station, before or after the show,” said Fule. “We’re also planning to have a silent auction and a 50/50 at the door. Everybody’s ticket stubs are numbered at each end, so we’re going to do a draw for a prize using their ticket stubs. We really want to make it a night where they have a really good chance of winning things, and have a great night of laughs as well.”
All of the profits from the evening will go to the Youth Club of Strathmore and will be used to continue providing programming for the youth in the community. The tickets are selling for $25 each.
They can be purchased at the Strathmore FCSS office, or by contacting Pat Fule at (403) 324-3314 and can also contact the Youth Club at (403) 934-4918. info@youthclubofstrathmore.ca.
