Strathmore Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is presenting a new series to the community that will help promote and inform people about different groups and organizations in the area.
The Strathmore FCSS Community Program Forum Series began on Oct. 30 with the Addiction and Mental Health Unit, and in January the Community Crisis Society will host a forum.
“The community program forum series was established to allow different agencies opportunities to showcase their current programs and to facilitate collaborative working relationships with other agencies,” said Catherine Walsh, Strathmore FCSS coordinator.
“It’s a good refresher as to what is offered because I think often times we might work in bubbles and we forget what’s really out there.”
The forums will also help the public be aware of any changes that are coming to programs that they may not normally hear about.
During meetings it is not always easy to get a chance to ask all the questions you want of an agency; the forums will provide the chance to be able to do just that. The forums are open to the public and are free to attend. Walsh said they would like to feature a different group every month, and each group can hold a new forum every year if they would like.
The forums can either be held at the Strathmore FCSS office, or wherever the presenter would like to host them. Any group, organization or agency in town can request to host a forum. All they have to do is call the Strathmore FCSS offices and speak to Catherine Walsh at 403-934-9090.
