Carseland Aggie Days is fast approaching! A small community with a lot of action! Plan to visit us on the weekend of June 21-23. We have lots of activities to inspire all ages. We continually endeavour to make this event bigger, better and exciting for all.
A 24 team, SPN Provincial Qualifier, slo-pitch ball tournament gets underway on Friday evening and runs all weekend. You are invited to cheer on your favourite team or just enjoy the exciting sport and action. Take time to relax in the beer gardens or get a bite from the concession. If you would like to show off your skills, or just have a great time, be sure to register your team.
Saturday entails much hustle and bustle beginning with a breakfast sponsored by our local PB Club. You will want to be a spectator or participant for the parade that gets underway at 10 a.m., this year’s theme is “Celebrating the Bow River.”
All entries are welcome. The streets are lined with lawn chairs for front row seats along the route, excited children have their bags or buckets ready to pick up the goodies thrown out to them. You will see floats, clowns, mascots, horses, antique cars and more.
For the kids, there is always a Friday night “special” activity, this year being a magician and a movie. The kids are continually amused all day Saturday at the midway and grounds where there will be train rides, games, face painting, tattoos, and blow up slides and bounce house, seed planting, digging for coins in the money pit as well as the petting zoo and pony rides.
Family fun includes the Show and Shine, Antique Tractor Pull, Ball Tournament, Hot Air Balloon Rides and checking out the “Trade and Craft Fair.”  The Lion’s Club provides a “Beer Gardens” for the more mature crowd.
The Carseland Lions are a major part of Carseland Aggie Days. They began their Annual BBQ in 1962 and it still exists today. There have been many changes throughout the years with the BBQ … from locations at the Bow River to events sponsored. In years gone by, they have provided such activities as horseshoe tournaments, hot air balloon rides, rides on the famous Johansen bull, and camping. In the beginning years a dinner ticket included a chance to win a brand new car.
Today, a ticket to the Carseland Lions BBQ includes your BBQ beef dinner with all the trimmings, chances on a number of cash draws and a Family Dance. Usually a special attraction is included after supper, this year you will be entertained by “Elton John Tribute Artist”
The Lions Club also sponsors the popular “Show and Shine,” which includes many participants and admirers. Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles are all welcome to enter. Many owners come early and take part in the parade. In addition to this, the Lions sponsor the famous “Antique Tractor Pull” which draws the attention of many folks of all ages.
We are pleased to be organizing our “Trade and Craft Fair” again this year. Last year was our first attempt at making this a big part of our Annual Carseland Aggie Days and Lions’ BBQ weekend. Due to its success, we are continuing on with this event once again. It is looking even more attractive this year.
The Trade and Craft Fair will be open for business on Friday, June 21, 5 – 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 22nd, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We invite you to check out the unique items from the many vendors. You will find everything from plants to jewellery, makeup, photos, woodworking, spices, wearing apparel, specialty items or how about new windows and much, much more. Vendors are also welcome.
