The Strathmore Storm hosted their annual Atom Invitational from Nov. 15-17 at the Strathmore Family Centre – and even took home gold in the A division. The weekend went very smoothly, thanks to the help of all the parent helpers.
“The tournament was fantastic. It went over very well this year,” Angie Riley said, tournament committee member. “Our whole Atom parent group pitches in – volunteers for the raffle table, we did a meal this year, for running time clocks, selling 50/50 tickets. It’s definitely run by our entire parent group.”
There are six main committee members, but roughly 40 parents assisted with the tournament festivities.
“I’ve been involved in it for three years; it’s been going on for years, for as long as Atom has been in Strathmore,” Riley said. “It can’t be run without the parents, that’s for sure.”
Sixteen teams, and roughly 200 players, competed this weekend, including four teams from Strathmore. Volunteers hosted a lunch for all players and coaches on Nov. 16.
Each of the teams had three pool games before their division finals on Nov. 17. Division winners included Indus for B, Airdrie, for C, and Midnapore for D.
