Laughter can cheer a person up after a gloomy day, which is why the Magical Moms Relay for Life team is bringing back the Boob Tour for a second year.
The Boob Tour began with James Uloth. When he was 16 a friend’s mom passed away from breast cancer. It left such an impact on him that he knew he had to do something to help raise funds for cancer. It didn’t take long for him to realize he could combine his desire to fundraise with his comedy routine and thus the Boob Tour was created.
“Originally the Boob Tour had approached the Relay for Life looking for teams who would be interested in doing it and we’ve always done one kind of major fundraiser so we thought that we would try that to be our major fundraiser for our team and it just worked out really well. It’s the laughter part of it, it’s fun and everyone just wants to come out and laugh,” said Shelly Marshman-Neal, a Magical Moms team member.
“It’s just a really fun way to get out and support those with cancer. It’s a great opportunity to raise funds to support not just the research, but the people that have cancer and raise money for them.”
Tickets are on sale for $30 each, and people are being encouraged to pre-purchase their tickets. There will be a silent auction, and 50/50 as well as snacks and a cash bar.
Lamont Ferguson, who has opened for George Carlin and Bill Cosby in the past, will be the headliner of the night. The other comedians include Ro Delle Grazie and, of course, James Ultoh.
“I think everyone on our team has had someone close to us that’s had cancer, fought cancer. We’ve all been affected somehow,” said Marshman-Neal.
What better way to show your support than to do so by busting a gut with good company?
The show takes place Nov. 9 at the Civic Centre. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. There are a total of 300 tickets available. Anyone who books a table of eight can have the table reserved for them. All of the proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society.
For more information or to purchase tickets either go to the ‘Boob Tour Comedy Show’ Facebook page or contact Shelly at 403-533-2263. There will be limited tickets available at the door the night of.
