‘Just For Kicks’ summer soccer camp is coming back to Strathmore again this year. Jenni Annicchiarico and her brother Michael began the soccer camp last July, after realizing a lot of kids enjoy soccer and wanted a chance to hone their skills. They are both teachers at Holy Cross Collegiate, HCC.
“It was really successful. We had just under 50 kids in both groups, so we’re hoping to get more than that this year. We’ll take as many as we can get,” said Jenni Annicchiarico.
The camp is open to anyone aged six to 14 who wants to participate. The first group is for kids six to 10-years-old, and will take place July 4 to 8. The second group is for kids aged 11 to 14-years-old, and takes place July 11 to 15.
“We focus on a different skill every day, and then Friday is kind of game day,” said Annicchiarico.
“It runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. so the morning is more skill based and then the afternoon is more applications and game situations.”
The camp will be held at HCC, guaranteeing the kids their practice time even if it rains because they also have access to the gym if needed. There is a lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the kids are required to bring their own lunches and a water bottle.
For the $120 fee all of the participants will be given a ‘Just For Kicks’ soccer camp T-shirt. Consent/registration forms are available at all of the schools in town, and there is no cap to the amount of kids Annicchiarico will accept.
“If we need more, I have instructors on back up so if our numbers increase we’ll make those accommodations also,” said Annicchiarico.
Parents can drop off the consent forms and their payment at Holy Cross Collegiate. They can also contact Jenni Annicchiarico at jmannicchiarico@redeemer.ab.ca to find out more information. The deadline for registration is Monday, June 6.
