With Easter just around the corner, Your Cup, Coffee Shop in Rockyford hosted an Easter Bonnet Contest for kids and adults on April 16.
There were some really inventive and colorfully creative hats in both categories. Winners in the children’s category included; First place to Audrey Howard and Second place to Kalena Scott. In the adult category, First place went to Carolyn Madge and Second place went to Montana Evanenko. All winners received a gift certificate for a soup and sandwich of their choice, a ribbon and a stuffed bunny.
Owner and operator P.J. Roth has been running a unique and diversified business in Rockyford for close to one year now. She not only promotes local artisans and sells their works on consignment but also invites local home business operators to have open houses at her cozy shop. It is truly a win-win situation for all involved.
Roth likes to be busy and seems to be a ‘Jack of all trades.’
She has hand-painted all her advertising signs in and around the area and the windows in her store, and she also sells aprons that she has made herself.
Roth said “our one year anniversary is around the corner in May and we are still holding our own. Every day is a new situation and we have learned what works and what doesn’t.”
Roth wanted to be able to provide an alternative menu to what is currently available in Rockyford. Her shop offers a variety of sandwiches, soup, pies and pizzas. She is open for breakfasts as well and looks forward to the summer tourist crowds, especially during such events as the Rockyford Rodeo days and the One Rock concert put on by St. Rita’s parish.
Roth’s motto is “Nobody walks away hungry.”
Come on out and have a great cup of coffee and see what good things come out of our rural areas.
