A little off the beaten path

On a beautiful afternoon, a quick drive down to Carseland proved to be worth while. A view overlooking the majestic Bow River is spectacular. A tidy red building stands, and inside there were many smiling faces.
On Saturday, May 14 Bow Bench Retreat, located just 2 km south of Carseland, held its grand opening by hosting a small trade show. It was exciting to see such a wonderful turn out.
“It’s nice to come somewhere without stress, and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city,” says Nancy Strath, founder and owner of Bow Bench Retreat.
Bow Bench Retreat is a multi-functional facility, offering everything from cooking, quilting, and scrapbooking classes to yoga.
“I offer a lot of material on hand so people can just come out without having to pack a lot of excess with them,” says Strath.
Once inside, it is easy to see that this is true. Bow Bench Retreat offers a small kitchen area, complete with all necessary appliances. An open concept design offers the potential for many functions to be held there, and many windows offering the spectacular view of the Bow River ensures it will be most pleasing to the eye.
When asked why she decided to create a space such as Bow Bench Retreat, Strath said she had been working with a lady who runs a quilt shop and her space just wasn’t big enough anymore.
“So I built a place on the farm that could hold a lot of potential. It’s a nice getaway. I also think people will appreciate the view,” says Strath.
Apart from hosting classes, Bow Bench Retreat can also be rented out as a meeting space or for other social functions.
