St. THOMAS, John Samuel Alexander

April 22, 1926 – January 15, 2010

On Friday, January 15, our much loved “Poppa” passed away peacefully in Calgary at the age of 83 years. Born and raised in Paddockwood, Saskatchewan, Jack was a career soldier who proudly seved his country for 26 years and was a veteran of the second world war, serving in England, Germany and Canada. In England, Jack met his love,Sue, and they married and made Canada their home base. Settling in Cagary, Jack and Sue raised their two children, Lorraine and Larry. After retiring and moving to Strathmore, Alberta, Jack became the first member of the Adult Day Supprt Program, and spent many happy years there with his friends. Jack was predeceased by his mother and father John and Eleanore St. Thomas, his sister Mae, and his wife Sue. He is survived by his children Larry St. Thomas (Sharon), Lorraine Clark (Blaine) and his grandchildren Amy, Jenny (Travis), Evan and Caitlyn. He is also survived by his sister Bunny and three nieces and their families in Saskatchewan. Jack was a gentle soul, a kind and loving Dad, grandfather and friend to all. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Strathmore Health Unit and Homecare staff. Due to to their kindness and support, he was able to live independantly, which was something he cherished and strove hard to maintain. We would also like to thank Dr. Wakefield and the staff of unit 34 at the P.L.C. for their respectful and compassionate care in his final days.
